Welcome

Welcome to our website. I have gathered with the help of local people many old photographs of Cumnock and New Cumnock. Due to their age some of these pictures were in a poor condition, I have digitally scanned in and restored these pictures to the make them as good as new.

I have put the photographs onto cdroms which can be viewed at the Cumnock and New Cumnock libraries. If you are interested in obtaining a cdrom or a print of any photograph contained on these cdroms please contact me via email.

Due to the limited storage space available from my web provider I have been unable to put all the pictures online but I have managed to include a fair sample of them. In total 230 pictures of Cumnock in days past can be found on this website, to accomplish this
the pictures have had to be reduced in size and compressed. The picture quality is not as good as that of the pictures on the cdroms but I hope you will not be disappointed.

I have not included on this web site any text on the history of the villages as there are already several excellent websites which cover the history of Cumnock and New Cumnock, see the links section.

As well as the cdroms specifically aimed at the villages I have put together
two other cdroms. Glen Afton which has over 150 of my own photographs of this local glen taken over several years. Covenanters Trail which covers the covenanter monuments in the southwest of Scotland. An interactive map, details of inscriptions and background history complement the photographs on this disk to provide an account of this bloody period of our history.

I hope you enjoy visiting this site.

Regards
